St Helens Alternative Provision Service Homepage

Thank you for visiting our website. St Helens Alternative Provision Service is proud to be home to two specialist Pupil Referral Units: PACE, which supports children aged 5 to 11, and Launchpad, which works with young people aged 11 to 16. Together, we provide a high-quality, personalised education for learners who may be experiencing barriers to accessing mainstream schooling due to social, emotional, behavioural or medical needs.

It is a privilege to lead this dedicated and compassionate service as Headteacher. At the heart of our work is a belief that every child is valued and deserves to feel safe, understood and supported to succeed. We work hard to create a calm, inclusive environment where barriers to learning are broken down, confidence is rebuilt and positive futures are shaped.

Our vision is clear:

A safe and inclusive school where barriers are broken, confidence grows and futures are built.

This vision is brought to life through our shared values:

  • You are valued – every young person is known, respected and supported as an individual.

  • Keep moving forward – we encourage resilience, effort and personal growth, even when learning feels difficult.

  • Respect everyone – kindness, fairness and positive relationships are central to our community.

  • Build your future – we help pupils develop the skills, confidence and aspirations they need for their next steps.

Whether we are building strong foundations with our youngest pupils at PACE or supporting older students at Launchpad to re-engage with education, our aim is always the same: to help each learner move forward with confidence and a clear sense of direction. For some, this will mean reintegration into mainstream education; for others, it will mean a successful transition to a different specialist setting or pathway.

We take a holistic approach to education, recognising that learning is shaped by wellbeing, relationships and life experiences as much as by the classroom itself. By working closely with families, mainstream schools and partner agencies, we seek to remove barriers, strengthen support and unlock every young person’s potential.

We hope this website gives you a meaningful insight into our vision, values and the work we do each day. If you would like to find out more or speak to a member of our team, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
